DEA expands fentanyl awareness efforts ahead of FIFA World Cup

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — As the United States prepares to welcome millions of international visitors for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, federal officials are increasing efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl and other synthetic drugs, a public safety issue that continues to impact communities across the country, including those along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) announced that its “One Pill Can Kill” campaign will be prominently featured in the host cities of the FIFA World Cup.
