Former teacher settles lawsuit against the Boise School District for $720,000

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The Boise School District has settled a lawsuit with former teacher Michelle Chung for $720,000.

The Boise School District confirmed the settlement, saying $550,000 was paid by the district’s insurer and $170,000 was paid by the district itself.

Idahonews.com interviewed Chung in January of this year about the lawsuit. Chung said that shortly after she began teaching at West Junior High as a family and consumer sciences teacher, she began to notice mice droppings in her kitchen classroom. Chung says she reported the issue and began putting out sticky traps, but the problem wasn’t addressed by school administrators. The problem continued to grow over time, compounded by school closures in 2020 due to COVID.
