Regional advocates meet in Boise to talk affordable housing

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Housing developers and advocates from across the Mountain West gathered in Boise to share ideas on how to improve affordable housing. An issue many Idahoans are prioritizing as the state continues to grow.

A survey from January of this year done by the Idaho Policy Institute and the Boise State University School of Public Service shows housing as one of the top issues when asked how to make Idaho better. Ali Rabe, the executive director for the Gem State Housing Alliance says this is a relatively recent problem brought on by out of state buyers.

“They’re able to pay in cash, at high prices, and they’ve caused really serious competition amongst local people that are wanting to purchase a home,” Rabe said in an interview Monday evening…
