The Housing Authority of the City of Asheville will soon begin implementing a new work requirement for public housing residents.
Household members age 18 and older will be required to participate in at least 15 hours per week of approved work-related activities — which can include employment, job training, education, or approved volunteer service.
“This policy is intended to help connect residents with opportunities that can lead to greater stability over time, whether that’s employment, education, or job training,” said Ella Santos, Chief Executive Officer of HACA. “Our focus is on supporting residents while also creating clear expectations and pathways forward.”…
