POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 20-year-old Winter Haven man discovered the hard way that DIY police work doesn’t fly in Polk County, especially when your custom emergency lights are just a tool for winning highway arguments.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office got a call around 10:27 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2026, from a rather confused driver in the Wahneta area. The caller reported that an older model Chevy truck with flashing red and blue lights had pulled him over, only to abruptly speed off into the night.
A responding deputy quickly spotted the truck cruising down Bomber Road and decided to give the driver a taste of the real deal, initiating a traffic stop of his own…
