NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Harborfest, Juneteenth and Sail 250 will be held together in less than two weeks, bringing a large combined event to the Hampton Roads harbor. Ahead of the highly anticipated event, the U.S. Coast Guard announced its plans to ensure public safety and security.
Captain Peggy Britton, an official with the U.S. Coast Guard, stated the agency is employing a layered approach to cover every aspect of the event. Britton emphasized that behind-the-scenes efforts will focus on ensuring the safety and security of the public.
“We are layered and we are covering every aspect of this event. There are certainly a public affairs line of effort. But more importantly, behind the scenes we will be ensuring the safety and security of the public. And we’re doing that in a layered fashion,” said Britton…
