SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) – On Tuesday, the Hays County Commissioners Court voted 3-1 to deny a proposed development agreement tied to the controversial Hays Commons project, a planned subdivision near the intersection of FM 1626 and SH 45.
The proposed development by MileStone Community Builders, would bring more than 340 single-family homes to property spanning portions of Hays and Travis counties. The vote came after dozens of residents, local officials and environmental advocates packed the commissioners courtroom to voice concerns about the project’s potential impact on groundwater, water quality and surrounding communities.
