Springfield neighbors call for changes to storm water drainage system after severe flooding

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — After the large amounts of flooding that hit Springfield on June 8, some residents in the Southeast side are wanting changes to be made to their storm drainage.

The storm inlet in Eugene Field Park near Brentwood currently has a restriction plate installed, a frame often used to manage flow of water and prevent overloading the system.

However, neighbors who live nearby tell Ozarks First that, during Monday’s flooding, debris quickly came and blocked the small opening, causing water to be backed up…
