NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Walmart plans to begin delivering by drone in Louisiana.
According to a news release, New Orleans will be one of seven major U.S. cities joining its drone delivery network. The expansion will bring its total footprint to 20 U.S. markets in 270 locations, on path to reaching 40 million consumers by 2027.
Walmart has partnered with the drone company Wing for its delivery program. Local residents will be able to order Walmart items via the Wing app. The delivery drones cruise at 60 miles per hour and use a tether system to lower packages onto the customer’s property…
