EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The defendant in a Madison County murder case will remain in jail for the duration of the trial.
On Wednesday, Judge John Hackett denied pretrial release for Jason A. McCallum of Florissant. McCallum, 18, is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Travion Sherrod.
The shooting took place on May 26 in the 1200 block of Selb Street in Venice, Illinois. Sherrod, 38, was found unresponsive in a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his head. He was later pronounced dead. Officers recovered 17 shell casings at the scene. Sherrod’s vehicle had 16 bullet holes…
