SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The man who hit a Sioux Falls woman with his car and kept driving is back behind bars.

Ali Hassan, 38, was convicted of hit and run involving death or injury earlier this year. He was booked into the Minnehaha County Jail this week, to serve a majority of his 6-month sentence. According to online court records, Hassan is eligible for work release.
In December 2024, Hassan hit and killed 28-year-old Veronica Lynn Honkamp-Martin near the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance on West Russell Street. Her body was found roughly two miles away on West Innovation Street and North Career Avenue.
