New details come to light regarding fired graduate student

Taubman graduate student Philippe Kame continues to face difficulties since the termination of his employment as a graduate student instructor and his subsequent detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in April. In an interview with The Michigan Daily, Kame revealed details about his grievance hearing that were previously kept confidential to protect his and his family’s privacy.

Kame, who is pursuing a Master of Architecture at the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, requested and was granted a leave of absence last year. He remains enrolled as a student at the University of Michigan, but said the termination of his GSI position ignited a chain of events that ultimately led to his detention.
