GREENBELT, Md. (DC News Now) — A 43-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday after hitting an officer and his cruiser on the Baltimore-Washington (B-W) Parkway in December, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Maryland.
Khoran Newell will serve one year in federal prison followed by two years of supervised release after pleading guilty to driving under the influence and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle in connection with the crash, according to court documents.
The USAO stated that in the early hours of Dec. 27, 2025, Newell struck a U.S. Park Police (USPP) cruiser at nearly 62 mph while the officer was conducting a traffic stop northbound on the B-W Parkway. The cruiser was well-lit, with lights illuminating the front, overhead, and rear of the vehicle.
