ST. CLOUD, Fla. — Student activists are pushing to ban smoking at Lakefront Park in St. Cloud, the only park within city limits that currently permits smoking.
During a May 14 meeting, a handful of high school students spoke to St. Cloud’s city council about their concerns over smoking at Lakefront Park. Those students are from the group SWAT, Students Working Against Tobacco from Osceola High School, and since speaking during the May meeting, the city has filed a proposed ordinance to ban smoking at the park. It’s set to have its first reading during the city council meeting Thursday night.
