NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control said its capacity for animals is limited as it currently has nearly a dozen dogs that are a part of active legal cases.
At this time, MACC is housing 11 dogs from active court cases.
The agency said part of its responsibility is providing safe shelter for animals that are considered evidence in ongoing court proceedings. This means a couple of things for MACC:
- Prolonged court timelines mean more days spent in MACC’s care. When the animals are involved in active court cases, they are not available for adoption until the case is fully resolved, which means animals could be in the agency’s care for several weeks or even months.
- Kennel capacity drives intake capability. MACC said that with the 11 dogs being housed in the 11 large kennels, their capacity for intakes decreases.
