- Dangerous heat and humidity build into the region
- A few strong to severe storms are possible
- A fairly quiet weekend ahead
First Alert Weather Day Thu. & Fri. Afternoon
We’ve issued a First Alert Weather Day for Thursday and Friday afternoon and evening. We’ve got our eye on both dangerous heat and the potential for severe weather. The Storm Prediction Center has placed a good portion of our area under a Slight Risk of severe weather Thursday meaning scattered strong to severe storms are possible.
And again on Friday where all of us are under a Slight Risk of severe weather.
Highs will be climbing into the 90s for several hometowns along with high humidity; this will make for feels-like temperatures climbing close to/above 100 degrees. A few strong to severe storms are also possible with strong damaging wind gusts, pockets of hail and torrential downpours. Remain weather Aware both days.
Rest Of The Week
Unfortunately, most of the widespread soaking rain will remain to our west, so no major dents in our current drought monitor are expected. There is a chance for localized downpours though, so watch for ponding water in spots.
Once the front pushes through quiet weather will return for the weekend with just an isolated storm, especially Sunday.
***Drought Monitor Thursday 6/11 Update***(Worsens Slightly)
The drought monitor continues to reflect our extremely dry pattern. Severe & extreme drought cover our entire area. We have seen it get a little worse this week! We need much more rain and unfortunately there are very limited rain chances for the foreseeable future other than hit or miss thunderstorms.
