Staten Island bus driver, 48, makes first court appearances since crash that killed 5

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Jing Dong, the bus driver from Staten Island involved in a fatal multi-vehicle collision, made two court appearances in Stafford County, Va., Wednesday morning in a wheelchair, according to NBC4 Washington.

He faces five felony counts of involuntary manslaughter following a fatal May 29 collision on Interstate 95. The 48-year-old man faced two judges: one in Stafford County District Court for two warrants he was served the day after the crash and another in Circuit Court for the three other involuntary manslaughter charges brought a couple days later, according to a 7News report.

Dong, who speaks limited English, also faces a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving for his role in the collision that claimed five lives and injured dozens more, according to The Washington Post…
