KANSAS CITY, Mo. — On Wednesday, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas announced a new ordinance aimed at shutting down businesses operating illegally throughout the city.
Less than a week after a mass shooting occurred outside of what city leaders described as an “unlicensed after-hours club,” Mayor Lucas introduced an ordinance that allows the city to classify businesses operating without required licenses, permits or government approvals as a nuisance – allowing the city to take steps toward shutting down these establishments.
