Man seriously injured after multi-county police chase ends in Knox County

ALCOA, Tenn. (WATE) — A man was seriously injured and taken to a hospital after a muti-county police chase Wednesday, the Alcoa Police Department said.

The man faces charges of felony evading, driving under the influence and driving on a revoked license. Alcoa Police said there are multiple warrants for the man in Blount County.

On Wednesday night, multiple people called 911 reporting a reckless driver. The Maryville Police attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled into Alcoa, APD said. The Alcoa Police said they saw the man’s car run a red light at the 129-highway intersection at Louisville Road.

The car fled at a high speed through Alcoa and into Knox County, exiting onto Northshore, APD said. The Alcoa Police tried to do a pit maneuver, but the man regained control and kept fleeing, nearly hitting another car head-on at one point, police said.
