A traffic stop over illegally tinted front windows in San Rafael turned into a weapons and narcotics bust yesterday, after officers say they found a loaded revolver and a sizable stash of suspected methamphetamine in the car of a local man already on probation.
San Rafael police reported seizing a loaded .22-caliber revolver, multiple rounds of ammunition and nearly 55 grams of a crystalline substance that they say field-tested as methamphetamine. The driver, identified by police as 33-year-old San Rafael resident Michael Felix, was taken into custody and booked into the Marin County Jail on multiple felony and probation-related charges.

According to the San Rafael Police Department, an officer pulled the car over just after 7:45 PM yesterday near Third Street and Grand Avenue after spotting illegally tinted front windows and a windshield. The department says its K-9 alerted officers to narcotics inside the vehicle, which led to a search.

That search turned up a loaded .22-caliber revolver, 58 additional rounds of ammunition, about 54.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a digital scale and cash that police say was consistent with sales. Officers identified the driver as 33-year-old Michael Felix, who they say was on active probation with a search condition and on pretrial release at the time.
