Huge tornadoes rip through Illinois and Wisconsin with terrifying footage

Terrifying video from Thursday evening shows huge tornadoes tearing across parts of Illinois and Wisconsin as severe storms prompted urgent warnings from areas near Chicago north into Wisconsin.

In Illinois, the National Weather Service said tornado damage was confirmed in the southern and southeastern parts of Streator as of 5:52 p.m. Another tornado was later reported on the ground near Dwight, shortly after 6:15 p.m., prompting a tornado warning for Grundy and Kankakee counties.

A tornado watch was also in effect for the entire Chicago area and Northwest Indiana until 9 p.m., with forecasters warning that a second round of storms could bring a broader tornado outbreak.

Across the state line in Wisconsin, the National Weather Service said a tornado was observed touching down south of Union Grove near U.S. Highway 45 and State Highway 142 at around 6:10 p.m. Forecasters warned that “hail, damaging winds, tornadoes and flooding are all possible” as a Level 3 storm risk targeted southeastern Wisconsin from late morning through the afternoon…
