CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Texas High School Athletic Directors Association (THSADA) has named Canyon High School the 2026 Texas Cup champion in the 4A classification, recognizing the school as the highest-achieving athletic program among 4A schools in the state.
The Texas Cup award was presented at the THSADA annual State Conference in June, where six schools, one from each UIL classification 1A through 6A, were honored for their overall team athletic achievement throughout the school year.

Canyon earned the distinction through a points-based system that rewards schools for performance in district, regional and state competition across all UIL-sanctioned team sports. Schools accumulate points based on how far their teams advance beyond district play, with higher point values assigned as teams progress through the playoff rounds toward state championship competition.
The Texas Cup program evaluates performance across a broad range of UIL team sports. Boys’ sports included in the standings are baseball, basketball, football, soccer and water polo. Girls’ programs earn points through basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball and water polo.
