68 years later: A survivor describes the El Dorado tornado

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Survivors and community members gathered at the memorial of the 1958 El Dorado tornado on Wednesday to honor those who lost their lives in that storm.

At the ceremony, the name of every person who was killed was read out loud as a bell rang.

The tornado, rated an F4, was 1,000 feet wide and traveled for 8 miles, razing hundreds of homes. More than a dozen people were killed, and another 80 were hurt.
