(KRQE) – It’s a bizarre case of déjà vu for an Albuquerque city official, after two cars plow into the same fence, just days apart, and the two incidents were strikingly similar. “Surprised but disappointment as well,” said Jennifer McDonald, Gateway Operations Officer for the Department of Health, Housing and Homelessness.
Near the corner of I-40 and San Mateo, the Gateway Young Adults Center celebrated its opening on April 1. What used to be the “San Mateo Inn” was renovated into a shelter that supports youth ages 18-25, suffering from housing instability.
But 2.5 months after opening, the center’s property has already suffered damage. “Early Friday morning, we had a vehicle that lost control. They were headed southbound on San Mateo, they lost control, came over the median, and hit our fence around our property,” said McDonald…
