Former JAFCU head, husband sued for allegedly embezzling $91M

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – The former head of the Jackson Area Federal Credit Union (JAFCU) is being sued for embezzling more than $91 million from the company, leading to it being put in conservatorship.

In May, the National Credit Union Association (NCUA) filed suit against JAFCU CEO Leigh Bridges and her husband Chad Bridges for allegedly transferring the money from JAFCU ledgers to their accounts.

The suit alleges Bridges spent millions of dollars drawn down from her JAFCU account on luxury items, including $3.3 million at the Brooks Collection, a luxury jewelry and handbag store in Jackson, as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars more on vehicles…
