Portland police seek help solving 9-year cold case after NE Portland man’s death

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Nine years after the death of a 36-year-old Northeast Portland man, authorities are still searching for who is responsible for his death.

Marking the nine-year anniversary of Brian Spaulding’s death, the Portland Police Bureau said it’s seeking the public’s help to solve the cold case and is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.

The case goes back to June 12, 2017, when Spaulding’s father found Brian dead in his apartment at Northeast 10th Avenue and Fremont Street after he didn’t show up to work.

On the scene, Portland police determined that Spaulding was dead, and based on observations, called in the homicide team. The medical examiner later determined Spaulding was a victim of a shooting and ruled his death a homicide.
