New food pantry at the Center for Disabilities Services, creates jobs

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A new food pantry opened at the Center for Disability Services in Albany on Friday. Leaders said that it’s about more than just putting food on the table — it’s also about creating opportunities for people with disabilities.

The new pantry is open to all – but built for people with disabilities, which gives them access to food and hygiene essentials right where they already come for care. “We’re going to meet you exactly where you are and give you the food that you need so that you don’t just survive, but you can thrive,” explained Michael-Aaron Poindexter, the Chief Program Officer at Regional Food Bank.

The pantry was funded with help from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, the New York State Industries for the Disabled (NYSID), and in collaboration with the Regional Food Bank and Market 32 and Price Chopper…
