CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – The first major heat wave of the year is set for this weekend, and Grand Strand doctors are urging people to stay hydrated.
People enjoy outdoor activities when it’s hot outside, like going to the beach or pool with friends and family. But without proper hydration, the fun can lead to health issues.
“Dehydration. I mean, that’s one of the first ones that comes to mind, right? We perspire heavily, we get behind, and we get dehydrated,” said Dr. Paul Richardson, chief medical officer at Conway Medical Center. “What can dehydration lead to? Well, it can lead to dizziness, fatigue, all sorts of symptoms of that type, right on up to, for people who get heat exhaustion, heat stroke.”…
