‘Living in a warzone’: Mother says Wilmington home hit by stray bullets for fifth time

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A Wilmington woman said her house was hit with stray bullets for the fifth time since she moved in.

Aquita Ellison’s home on Corbett Street was struck by gunfire around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, June 12. The window to her front living room is shattered, and one bullet entered her daughter’s bedroom.

“I remember being asleep, and then I heard a boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,” Ellison said. “It was a bunch of boom-like noises, and I’m so used to the shooting, so the first thing I did was to grab my kids and throw them on the floor and lay down.”…
