Louisiana sits in ‘stone belt’ where kidney stones are far more common

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – One in 10 Americans will develop a kidney stone in their lifetime. But in Louisiana, the odds are worse.

“That number goes up to about one in five people in the stone belt, which includes Louisiana,” said Dr. Ross Cockrell, a urologist at Baton Rouge General.
