SF Fire Rescue responds to balcony fire; cause unknown

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO)– Multiple fire trucks from Sioux Falls Fire Rescue were called to a fire that started near 51st & Tennis Lane in southern Sioux Falls Friday afternoon. The fire was located just west of Sertoma Park.

The pictures below show that the top two balconies took a lot of damage, but it appears crews were able to get the fire under control.

According to Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, when crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the northeast apartment and roof. Crews were able to put out the fire in an hour and a half and stayed on scene for four hours to monitor hot spots. As of Saturday morning, there’s no word about whether anyone was injured.

It is still unknown how the fire started, and is still being investigated…
