LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas woman was arrested on additional charges related to an alleged large-scale fraud scheme involving the theft of personal identifying information and the trafficking of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, according to the Nevada Governor’s Office.
Nevada State Police arrested Mychelle Lay on the following charges:
- 21 counts of obtaining and using personal identifying information of another person to harm or impersonate a person, to obtain certain nonpublic records, or for other unlawful purposes
- 1 count of public assistance fraud
- 1 count of multiple transactions involving fraud or deceit in course of enterprise or occupation
- 1 count of theft $25,000 or more but less than $100,000.
The initial arrest in this case was made in March 2026. During that time, officers with the Nevada State Police Parole and Probation Division conducted a home contact on probationer Lay, who was under supervision for Possession of a Controlled Substance and obtaining and using the Personal Identifying Information of another. Evidence related to fraudulent activity was discovered during the contact.
