Goose Creek Police host 8th annual Hot Pursuit 5K despite extreme heat

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCSC) — A heat index topping 100 degrees did not stop Goose Creek community members from showing up for the Goose Creek Police Department’s 8th annual Hot Pursuit 5K Saturday morning.

Event organizers said this was the largest turnout for the event yet. A total of 273 people participated in the 5K, with proceeds supporting Shop with a Badge and Operation Christmas Joy, both programs that help families in need during the holiday season.

The 5K followed a kids race with 76 children chasing an officer, in ‘hot pursuit’ style, around the pond loop at the Daning Amphitheater beside City Hall. While the heat was a challenge for participants of all skill levels, spirits remained high throughout the event…
