The Waccamaw River is experiencing historically low water levels in Horry County. According to the South Carolina State Climate Office, the Stream Gauge Drought Status of the Waccamaw River is extreme.
At the Conway Riverwalk, Friday, June 12, the water gauge close to the bank of the river was in inches of water, not feet. Gauges near Conway monitored by the US Geological Survey show the Waccamaw River water levels in the 7-foot range, well below the historical median for late spring.
