The Lafayette Public Trust Financing Authority has moved forward with plans to demolish the remaining part of the Coburn Supply Company Inc. building after the roof collapsed last month.
The building and its remaining three walls will be torn down after the state, which owns the property along Third Street in downtown Lafayette, gives final approval. The LPTFA, which leases the property from the Department of Transportation and Development, made its decision to demolish on Tuesday, said Alex Lazard, the authority’s executive director.
“We’ve worked with DOTD and (Lafayette Consolidated Government) pretty extensively throughout this process,“ Lazard said. “This particular decision, we were allowed to make as a condition of the lease.“…
