Filmore Avenue between Canal, Argonne boulevards to temporarily close for construction

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Starting on Monday, June 15, both lanes of Filmore Avenue from Canal Boulevard to Argonne Boulevard will be temporarily closed due to construction, the City of New Orleans announced Friday.

The Department of Public Works contractor, CMG Pipelines, Inc., will use this time to excavate pits and prepare for sewer work on Filmore Avenue.

During this time, motorists are encouraged to use the following alternative travel routes when possible:

  • Filmore Avenue (excluding Canal to Argonne boulevards)
  • Filmore Avenue & Memphis Street intersection
  • Filmore Avenue & Marshal Foch Street intersection

According to city officials, this project is part of the $20 million Lakeview North Group F & G joint infrastructure project between the DPW and the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans.

When the task is complete, New Orleanians are expected to have improved drainage, repaired streets, curbs, sidewalks and the installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
