High winds, rain, large hail possible for south-central Kansas. What’s the timing?

The Wichita area could see winds as strong as 60 mph or greater Saturday as a weather front moves through the area, according to the National Weather Service.

Jerod Kaufman, a meteorologist with the service in its Wichita office, said storms could pop up in the area by around 7 p.m. on Saturday.

“This front is going to come down from the north,” Kaufman said. “The best storm chances for Wichita will probably be sometime after 7 p.m. The primary threats are strong winds, 60-80 mph, and some places could see some large hail.”…
