LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Warm and humid air holds in place tonight as temperatures drop into the 70s. Sunday will start off with quiet weather conditions before temperatures warm into the 80s by lunchtime. During the afternoon, highs reach the lower 90s with scattered storms for the area. Some storms will be slow-moving with heavy rainfall.
In the tropics, we are still monitoring the remnants of Cristina as they move into Mexico.
In the days ahead, models suggest that this area of moisture will return to the Gulf and will once again have the potential for some tropical development. If anything were to develop, that would occur later in the week around Wednesday or Thursday.
Our main concern will be the heavy rain threat for the area that develops from the extremely high tropical moisture and a stalling front. Models indicate multiple rounds of heavy rainfall for the area that could lead to flooding…
