Man killed in church tent collapse identified, hospitalized victims expected to make a ‘full recovery’

MONETA, Va. (WFXR) — The man killed after a 21,000 square foot tent collapsed on top of hundreds of people at an EastLake Community Church service Friday night has been identified as 85-year-old Robert Stouffer of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

The incident left 22 others injured, 11 of whom were taken to local hospitals. Bedford County officials said Saturday evening that all 11 are expected to make a “full recovery.”

It happened just before 6:45 p.m. Friday, just minutes into a 6:30 p.m. service that was part of the church’s 20th anniversary celebration, as a severe thunderstorm moved through the area…
