Good evening!
Another afternoon of active weather developed across New Mexico once again. Strong to severe storms were depicted across western, southern and even central sections of the state. A severe thunderstorm was also warned for parts of Sandoval and Bernalillo counties, earlier today, which brought impressive hail to Rio Rancho. As the evening gets underway additional severe storms moved through Dona Ana County traveling southeast toward El Paso. The National Weather Service (NWS) warned for quarter sized hail and 60 mph winds. Heavy rainfall was depicted, with that storm, along with abundant lightning on radar. Even Albuquerque saw rainfall and thunder move through today along with other sections of the metro.
Showers and storms will likely continue through this evening and overnight. Another day with wet weather is ahead for Monday. Additional showers and storms are expected as storms develop in the afternoon. There is a chance for severe weather in eastern New Mexico which would bring strong winds, hail, and localized to heavy rainfall to that side of the state. After Monday drier air will start to move into the Land of Enchantment contributing to spotty showers in the southern mountains on Tuesday and Wednesday. The dry air will also allow the heat to return to the Land of Enchantment. By Wednesday afternoon highs will be very hot in southern New Mexico.
