MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — Emergency crews are urging boaters to get off Lake Moultrie immediately as severe weather moves across Berkeley County, prompting multiple water rescues Sunday afternoon.
According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Marine Patrol deputies and several Berkeley County fire departments are currently responding to five separate water rescue missions on the lake as a strong storm system creates hazardous conditions.
Officials said the storm is producing strong winds, lightning, heavy rainfall and significantly reduced visibility, making conditions increasingly dangerous for anyone remaining on the water.
