YPSILANTI TWP., MI — People looking for a way to give back to the local community on Juneteenth can help uncover and restore local Black history by volunteering at Woodlawn Cemetery near Ypsilanti.
A “Juneteenth Day of Service” event will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, June 19, at the historic Black cemetery, 7800 S. Huron River Drive in Ypsilanti Township.
Volunteers will help remove overgrown vegetation and locate headstones at the cemetery, which is the only known historic Black cemetery in Washtenaw County…
