Court weighs competency of man charged in fatal shooting of College of Charleston provost’s husband

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) A co-defendant accused in the fatal 2020 shooting of a College of Charleston provost’s husband may not be able to stand trial.

6 years after the fatal shooting of Thomas Dilorenzo, Travis Wilson Jr. appeared in court Monday for a competency hearing.

Authorities say DiLorenzo and his wife, Suzanne Austin, the then-new College of Charleston provost and executive vice president of student affairs, were walking near the intersection of King and Clifford streets when they were approached by juveniles armed with a gun who demanded money. Police say the juveniles then shot DiLorenzo when he did not have anything of value…
