NWS confirms tornadoes, thousands without power in PA after storms

Tornados hit an area northwest of Pittsburgh after storms swept through much of Western and Central Pennsylvania the previous evening, the National Weather Service confirmed on June 15.

An NWS team was in the process of surveying the damage near Anita in Jefferson County on the afternoon of June 15, in an area that saw tornados the previous night. The survey followed an evening of severe weather in numerous Pennsylvania counties, as well as Eastern Ohio and North Central West Virginia.

As of the morning of June 15, thousands of Western Pennsylvania residents were without power.
