ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A woman from St. Louis was sentenced to 12 years in prison for scalding her roommate with hot oil.
Oliveria Jones, 69, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree assault. Prosecutors dismissed a count of second-degree murder as part of the plea agreement.
Proseuctors said Jones heated up oil in the microwave and poured it on Doren Davis’ while she slept in March 2022. The two were roommates at Smiley Manor on Thekla Avenue.
According to authorities, Davis had schizophrenia, diabetes and a pulmonary disease. A medical examiner previously testified that the oil burns aggravated Davis’ lung disorder and caused her death about a month later…
