HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Pennsylvania has spent more than $30 million on security upgrades at the Governor’s Residence since an arson attack last year, but it’s more than $1 million in enhancements at Gov. Josh Shapiro’s (D) private home in Montgomery County that continues to draw scrutiny.
Treasurer Stacy Garrity (R), who is challenging Shapiro for governor, refused to approve state dollars for the private home, despite a request from the Pennsylvania State Police.
The state’s top lawyer, Attorney General Dave Sunday, said in a letter on Friday that the procurement code does not allow tax dollars to be used on a private residence, and that state police and the governor did not follow proper procedures…
