A new storm shelter is on the way for Birmingport, marking a step forward in Jefferson County’s emergency preparedness efforts.
Jefferson County District Two Commissioner Sheila Tyson announced the “Official Project Announcement: The Future Birmingport Storm Shelter,” saying the county is “incredibly proud to display the new construction development signing for the upcoming Birmingport Storm Shelter project.”
Tyson said the facility “represents our ongoing commitment to public safety and emergency preparedness.” While active construction has not yet begun, Tyson said the signing marks “the transition from planning to preparation.”…
