A brush fire that erupted Monday afternoon in the Santa Clarita Valley, threatening homes and spurring evacuation orders, was brought to a halt hours later by fire crews, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The forward progress of the fire, one of three that broke out Monday in Southern California, was stopped after it had burned 45 acres. As of Monday night, the blaze was 40% contained.
The fire prompted an evacuation order for homes near the Pico Canyon Elementary School area, while evacuation warnings were issued for homes in the area of Sagecrest Circle and Chicory Court, according to authorities. The evacuation orders have since been lifted…
