OPSO employee fired, arrested after internal investigation

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office officials said they fired and arrested an employee on a charge of malfeasance in office.

According to OPSO officials, video footage at the Orleans Justice Center shows now-former employee Imyri Johnson conducting security rounds when an inmate threw a cup of water through an open food hatch, striking Johnson in the face.

After a verbal exchange with the inmate, Johnson reopened the food hatch and sprayed her agency-issued pepper spray into the cell occupied by the inmate and his cellmate, according to officials…
