God’s Kitchen surpasses donation goal to replace broken oven

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A soup kitchen in Grand Rapids has raised more than enough money to replace a broken-down oven, Catholic Charities of West Michigan said.

Last week, an oven at God’s Kitchen in Grand Rapids’ Heartside neighborhood broke and the nonprofit said its second oven was on its last legs. Other kitchen equipment was also falling into disrepair and food supplies were short for the summer, CCWM said.

At the time, News 8 reported that it would have cost about $30,000 to replace both ovens and about $60,000 for overall equipment upgrades.
